Nov 13, 2018 - Installing macOS Sierra on your Mac is easy using the upgrade install. As long as your Mac meets the minimum requirements, you're almost. Why take the chance of having your Mac restart from an aborted install and end. ![]() ![]() In this video, I go over the steps needed to install macOS Sierra on an unsupported Mac. The whole process is based around the macOS Sierra Patch Tool for Unsupported Macs, which is a program I wrote to allow all users to easily perform the necessary modifications. The download, instructions, and all necessary resources are available on my website here: The macOS Sierra Installer can be downloaded from here: Issues that are still being worked out: -Unsupported WiFi modules in some systems. Macs that use the Broadcom BCM4321 WiFi module will not have functional WiFi when running Sierra. A fix for this is to open up your machine and install a compatible WiFi card. Machines affected include some MacPro3,1, MacBook5,2, MacBookPro4,1, iMac8,1, Macmini3,1, and MacBookAir2,1 systems. Please note that not all these machines will have an unsupported card, this is just a list of machines known to have shipped with that card in some configurations. -Trackpad (MacBook5,2 affected only). What is similar to excel for mac. While it works and is fully usable, Sierra detects it as just a standard mouse, preventing you from changing some trackpad-oriented settings. -Audio issue (iMac8,1 affected only). On some iMac8,1 systems, the audio volume doesn't seem to change even when the system indicates that it is. The audio is still usable, however it will remain at maximum volume all the time.
